Description
As ICE 4 or BR 412, Deutsche Bahn refers to the new generation of Intercity Express (ICE) high-speed trains for long-distance passenger transport. Siemens Mobility/Bombardier was commissioned to develop and build 170 trains for the time being in 2011. At first, twelve-part versions are to be ready for operation from December 2017, later seven-part trains from December 2020. A total of up to 300 new ICE will be purchased. The trains are designed as passenger trains. They are driven by several independantly driven cars, so-called Powercars, which are distributed over the train. The new ICE trains are made up of five types of wagons: End cars, powered mid-range cars ("Powercar"), non-powered mid-range cars, dining cars and service cars. The trains can also be used coupled in double traction. The exterior design of the trains was awarded the Red Dot Design Award for Awardin 2015. The first series of 130 railcars comprises 45 screen dividers and 85 12-divider.The new design of the ICE fleet was presented in September 2019 with 412 034 (9034 train set). In future, Germany's fastest climate conservationists will wear a green/red stripe on the two end cars.
