The transmission must be at idle speed. Insert the release tool to "alignment" and make sure that it is fully seated on the rear side, apply pressure to the left side if necessary, and push the engage lever away. A screwdriver can be used to hold the lever in position. When unscrewing, make sure that only 4 long and 3 short screws are removed, do not loosen the cover.
