The series VT 23 and VT 24 refer to the diesel railcar of the German Railways, consisting of two driven end cars and up to two intermediate carriages. These were configured as VM 23 or VM 24. In 1968, the trainsets were redrawn to the 624 series, and the air-cushioned vehicles were named 634. The middle cars were now running as 924 and 934.A total of 80 railcars and 55 intermediate carriages were built from MAN and the wagon factory Uerdingen.In 1967 the first tests began with the track arc-dependent wagon body control. For this purpose, numerous VT and VM were retrofitted with air suspension. The multiple units generally consist of two driven multiple units and a non-driven intermediate carriages. There can also be units with or without two middle wagons. An even larger number of intermediate wagons is not possible in passenger operation, however, a maximum of three units / six machine systems may be operated in a train set to form multiple traction.Starting in 2005, the railcars were replaced and parked by new vehicles.
