Between 1918 and 1923, SBB procured 1000 of the open goods wagons of the model L6. They were initially used for the transport of coal but also for other weather-sensitive goods.
The L6 were built with wooden and steel walls as well as with and without brakeman's cab.
On the basis of the L6, the SBB procured wagons with raised sides for the transport of logs and scrap. 318 pieces were built from the wagon classified as Fbkk.
