The Bavarian Zugspitzbahn of the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG is one of the oldest mountain railways in Germany, next to the Wendelstein Railway. The route leads from Garmisch Partenkirchen directly to Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. The route begins with the valley railway between Garmisch Partenkirchen and Grainau, from there the steep section goes over to the Zugspitze in a gear train. Currently the Tallok 1 and 4 as well as the 4-axle passenger car are still in use.
