Eisenach's pre-war convertible in the sign of the BMW kidney
The BMW 328 caused a sensation between 1937 and 1939, with its wine red and its unmistakable BMW kidney. The leather straps for the secure closure of the bonnet are invisible, and the windscreen is also printed with frame. The BMW 328 itself was once one of the dream sports cars of the late 1930s. Ernst Jakob Henne introduced the two-seat convertible built in Eisenach in 1936 at the 1936 Eifelrace on the legendary Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. The BMW 328 was available the following year for the price of 7,400 Reichsmark. 464 wagons were built until the beginning of 1940. The prototype makes it the same as the WIKING model: With a length of 3.9 meters and a width of 1.55 meters, the car looks pretty impressive.
Body and chassis are wine-red. Seat orange, steering wheel black. Red rims. Front headlights silver-plated, rear lights red printed.
