The ProfiSwitch X5 modernizes PROFIBUS network architectures for the next generation. The transparent repeater hub can be used to set the baud rate for each channel individually. A simple rotary switch opens doors to a new landscape with reliable and cost-saving applications.
The ProfiSwitch X5 eliminates traditional PROFIBUS networks with baud rate restrictions associated with spur lines, additional resistance, single master systems, poor cable segments and cable length restrictions. Design constraints with legacy systems or new systems are avoided, creating unparalleled customizable network designs. A main PLC can now act as a Master, with the ability to further expand the network, perform hot-swap of spur lines, reduce repeater installation. All this without limiting the speed performance. The advanced technology of the ProfiSwitch X5 converts the main channel to other transmission speeds and acts as a transparent proxy without disruption to the host system (similar to PA links).
