Description
Series 212 is considered a direct V 100 chassis series and was built to meet their development requirements. Only a stronger 993 kW motor was used in the machine. In service as BR V 100.20 from 1962 to 1965, in contrast to the V 100.10 used in the branch service it was also intended for the main and steep-distance service. The locomotives were considered to be very robust and reliable, they achieved high, trouble-free running performance. The machines were used in almost the whole of Germany.
