The Swedish Lokbauer Nydqvist or Holm AB (NOHAB) received a license in 1949 to build EMD locomotives for Europe. The six-axle Australian B Class served as the basis of the Victoria Railway. The design was adapted to the UIC standard, in particular to the narrower light compartment profile, and the locomotive also received European train and shock devices. At Anglo-Franco-Belge (AFB) the locomotives for the Belgian and Luxembourg trains were built. NOHAB locomotives were used by the state railways of Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg and Hungary. Today there are still numerous specimens, among others, in private railways in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Hungary, Belgium, Luxembourg and Kosovo in active service.
