The FiberMASTER S40, a compact fusion splicing device with sheath alignment, is indispensable for the manufacture of reliable, long-term fiber optic connections and is suitable for the installation and maintenance of the common fiber optic cables. A variety of programs (40 standard, 60 customer-specific) are available for a wide range of fiber types and combinations. Equipped with 4 motors, the splice unit has a manual and fully automatic mode that detects the fiber type and adjusts the optimal splice parameters for minimal real-time splice loss, allowing WAS to perform fast high-quality splicing operations. This rugged and reliable device can be used for Fibre to the Home (FTTH), access networks, enterprise and campus networks and has a very low splice loss of only 0.01 dB, an average splice time of 7 seconds, a heating time of approx. 20 seconds, a universal fiber mount for 250µm/900µm/2mm/3mm/soc and achieves maximum repeatability over hundreds of splices. The work steps can be followed via the 4.3 inch LCD touch-screen with user-friendly user interface and the X and Y-axes can be displayed individually or both in parallel. It supports SM (ITU-T G.652), MM (ITU-T G.651), DS (ITU-T G.653) NZDS (ITU-T G.655) and non-bending fibers such as G.657. The FiberMASTER S40 Fusion splicing device is housed in a robust hard shell case with an integrated work area.
