Description
Arturia presents the KeyStep mk2 – the successor of the very popular KeyStep. The compact and expressive controller and sequencer combines playful performance, extensive sequencing functions and versatile hardware and software connectivity in one portable device. He inspires new ideas, controls synthesizer setups, controls modular systems and integrates seamlessly into any DAW – a versatile tool for creative music production.
The KeyStep mk2 builds on the success of its predecessor and brings numerous innovations: An OLED display with push encoder for simple navigation, an extended polyphonic step sequencer with pattern chaining, a 16-mode arpeggiator, the new mute function for creative variations, and two capacitive touch strips for pitch and modulation. Four CV/Gate outputs, including the new Mod 2 output, expand the possibilities for modular setups. USB-C, MIDI DIN, pedal connection and the compact, flat design complete the upgrade for stage and studio.
Playability
The KeyStep mk2 features a 32-note touch-sensitive Slimkey keyboard that allows expressive control in the smallest space. Pitch and modulation strips provide intuitive real-time editing, while integrated chord and scale modes make it easy to explore new musical phrases.
Idea machine
The KeyStep mk2 is just as much an idea machine as a controller. Its polyphonic step sequencer, the 16-mode arpeggiator, pattern chaining and creative tools such as "Mute All" work together harmoniously. A reef can be created with the arpeggiator, converted into a sequence, and then transformed. With "Mute", new variations can be heard immediately, octaves can be changed, note lengths adjusted, breaks can be inserted, additional notes can be overdub or bend and wheel automations recorded – ideas develop immediately.
Compact design
Ultra-slim, suitable for traveling and space-saving – the KeyStep mk2 delivers studio features without bulky scope. Its flat profile allows direct contact to the controlled instruments, while the intuitive layout simplifies the playability and seamless integration on the stage, in the studio or in a hardware setup.
Hardware connectivity
Connection possibilities for almost every setup: In addition to USB-C MIDI, MIDI DIN, Sync I/O and pedal connection, the KeyStep mk2 offers four CV-outputs – pitch, gate, mod 1 and the new mod 2, now freely assignable with velocity, aftertouch, mod-wheel and more – for a precise control of modular hardware.
