Overview

The active system adapter design enables integration with the factory audio electronics and ensures communication between retrofit devices and the vehicle's OEM sound architecture. Several connection interfaces support ISO, 10-pin mini ISO and 18-pin AMP connections, thus simplifying the wiring when replacing or upgrading the car radio. Compatibility with D2B systems allows you to maintain the fiber-based audio bus functionality and therefore maintain OEM audio cabling during installation. The vehicle-specific fit for different Mercedes models reduces the installation time by matching the plug geometry to the existing work wiring harnesses.

Description

This Hi-Fi adapter serves as an interface between retrofit audio devices and Mercedes plant systems. It converts the original audio connections of the vehicle in usual ISO formats and thus enables the connection of car radios or navigation systems, without having to rewire the entire cable harness. During installation, the adapter is plugged into the OEM navigation or audio jack and provides the appropriate ISO/AMP connectors for the replacement unit. The adapter supports communication via COMAND and D2B buses, if available, and maintains the signal paths and control lines required for the factory audio functions. Typical application areas are the retrofitting of audio 10/30-units, the integration of navigation outputs and the operation of retrofit car radios within the original vehicle wiring harness.
