Overview

The steering wheel interface cable allows OEM steering wheel controls to be connected to retrofit car radios, thus maintaining the original switches' functions for audio upgrades. The vehicle-specific plug geometry is matched to the wiring harnesses of BMW and MINI and simplifies plug-and-play installation in compatible dashboards. The cable is designed for systems with business OEM radios or without professional navigation system and enables the integration without changes to the existing vehicle electronics. It is compatible with different chassis versions, which reduces the need for additional adapters when installing new car radios.

Description

This car Hi-Fi adapter makes it possible to connect the factory steering wheel remote control with subsequently built-in audio devices. It adjusts the pin assignment of the OEM harness for selected BMW and Mini models so that the button signals are correctly routed to a retrofit car radio or steering wheel remote control. The installation is done by connecting the adapter to the original car radio harness and the ISO input of the retrofit unit. This preserves the operating functions of the vehicle without having to cut the factory-set cables. Typical applications are the upgrading of the car radio in vehicles with the factory radio "Business" or in vehicles without the navigation system "Professional" or a factory-made sound system. This integrates the steering wheel remote control in retrofit systems.
