Overview

The Quadlock multi-conductor interface enables the direct electrical connection to the vehicle wiring and thus receives the steering wheel remote control signals for retrofit radios. The adapter category for steering wheel remote controls ensures compatibility with the factory control elements and enables the use of the audio functions without additional programming. Designed for vehicles without the MOST factory or MOST systems in combination with active adapters, it simplifies the integration of non-MOST car radios. The compact plug arrangement enables an easy mounting in BMW/Mini-dashboard, reduces the installation time and gets the original cable guide.

Description

This Hi-Fi connection connects the vehicle's factory wiring harness with retrofit audio devices by aligning the Quadlock multi-conductor plug and the steering wheel remote control circuits. It forwards remote control signals from the steering wheel to a compatible car radio or, in MOST-based systems, to an intermediate adapter, allowing command translation during installation. The installation typically includes disconnecting the factory wiring harness, plugging in the connector between the harness and the radio or adapter, and securing the connections to maintain the original cable routing. In vehicles with MOST sound systems the connection works together with active MOST→RCA adapters or special MOST amplifier interfaces, in order to convert optical or amplified signals in line-level outputs. The design supports a range of BMW and Mini models of different years of manufacture where iDrive is not present or requires an OEM audio architecture upgrade.
