Overview

The mini ISO interface transmits the steering wheel remote control signals to retrofit car radios and thus enables the maintenance of the steering wheel key functions during radio exchange. The pin-specific assignment of the pins 10/11/12 provides for a clear signal guidance for SWC1, ground and SWC2, WAS simplifies the wiring and reduces the installation time. The adapter is designed for vehicles with +12-volt ignition supply and uses the existing ignition voltage to initialize the steering wheel remote control communication without requiring additional power modules. The compatible cabling enables the use of Daiichi radios with direct color coding in vehicles prepared for the installation of a factory radio, thus ensuring seamless integration into prepared and non-factory systems.

Description

This car radio adapter converts the analogue steering wheel remote control outputs into a standard input for retrofitting radios and is connected via the mini ISO steering wheel interface of the vehicle. During installation, the adapter is connected to the vehicle harness and directs SWC1, GND and SWC2 through the corresponding pins. At the same time, the ignition voltage (+12 V) is monitored to ensure correct initialization. It is typically used to install a retrofit radio in vans and light commercial vehicles from Citroën, Fiat, Opel and Peugeot, which must retain the factory-fitted steering wheel remote control functions. The device supports installations without the original car radio as well as direct connections to Daiichi systems and is suitable for models with factory-made radio preparation.
