Overview

The steering wheel remote control interface allows OEM remote control functions to be retained when replacing radios in supported Ford models. CAN bus compatibility ensures communication with vehicle networks and allows signal translation for systems using CAN protocols. It was developed for vehicles without +12V ignition connection (pin 16) to balance connection differences during installation and to reduce the need for cable changes. It is compatible with select OEM audio/navigation devices from Sony and Ford and allows integration with factory radios with front card slots or certain radio devices.

Description

This car radio connection serves as an electrical interface between retrofit or exchange radios and the factory-made steering wheel remote control circuits of various Ford models. The adapter converts control signals from the vehicle network or steering wheel harness into audio system input signals and is suitable for both CAN bus and non-CAN bus systems. Installation includes connecting the adapter to the vehicle harness and the original radio harness. It is suitable for vehicles without a +12V switched voltage on pin 16 and supports integration with various factory Sony radios and navigation systems with a card slot on the front. Typical applications are retaining the steering wheel remote control when installing exchange radios in C-Max, Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy, Kuga, Transit and Transit Connect of the aforementioned years of construction.
