Overview

The steering wheel remote control interface adapts OEM control signals to retrofit car radios, thus enabling the factory steering wheel remote control to be maintained. The vehicle-specific plug geometry ensures the correct pin assignment for Mazda audio harnesses, simplifies the installation and reduces the wiring effort. Compatibility with various OEM audio vendors supports BOSE, Panasonic, and Sanyo systems and enables integration with a variety of original equipment. The adapter is designed for installation in various Mazda models, which ensures a clean connection between the factory audio wiring and ISO standard radio inputs.

Description

This car radio adapter converts the ex-factory steering wheel remote control signals into a format that can be used by retrofit radios. Thus the steering wheel keys can still be used even after the radio has been replaced. The unit connects to the vehicle's original audio harness using the correct pin assignment and forwards the control cables to an ISO interface for the new car radio. The installation usually includes disconnecting the original plug, plugging the adapter in between the vehicle harness and the retrofit radio, and connecting it to the ISO inputs of the retrofit radio. The component translates the manufacturer-specific signals from different Mazda models to support integration when the original sound system comes from BOSE or the factory radio comes from Panasonic or Sanyo. It is intended for installation in compatible Mazda models of different construction years.
