Overview

The steering wheel interface converts the OEM steering wheel commands into standard radio control signals, thus allowing the steering wheel control to be maintained when the car radio is replaced. The vehicle-specific plug geometry is adapted to the Nissan cabling, WAS simplifies the installation and reduces the wiring effort. The interface is compatible with OEM car radios from Blaupunkt, Bosch and Clarion and thus enables a seamless integration in these factory-installed systems. It supports vehicles with an external OEM telephone module and ensures the functionality of handset and call control after installation.

Description

This Hi-Fi connection converts steering wheel buttons into signals that can be interpreted from a retrofit car radio. This means that the factory-set controls can also be used with a new audio system. It is connected to the vehicle's original harness via a custom-fit connector specially designed for selected Nissan models. This means that the factory wiring harness does not require interference. During installation, the adapter maps the resistors and communication lines of the OEM control to the standard interface of compatible Blaupunkt, Bosch, and Clarion car radios and receives the connection to an external telephone module that may be present. Typically, the connection is used in workshops or by experienced do-it-yourself workers who want to retrofit a factory radio while maintaining steering wheel controls and telephone integration.
