Description

The LD400 is a low cost electronic load suitable for testing and characterizing a variety of DC power sources.
It can be used to study the behavior of many different types of power sources such as batteries and solar cells as well as electronic power supplies.
its wide voltage/current range, multiple modes of operation and built-in test generator give it the versatility for test solutions from design lab to component test area.

Characteristics

Low minimum input voltage
The LD400 can be operated at voltages below 500 mV for currents up to 10 amps. At higher currents, the fixed minimum resistance (typically better than 25mW) gradually increases the minimum operating voltage, but remains below 1 volt up to 40 amps and below 2 volts up to 80 amps.
This low operating voltage allows it to be used for many low voltage applications where other electronic loads are unsuitable.

600 watts peak power
The LD400 can be operated for up to 1 minute at a maximum power of 600 watts
Short term loads can be adequate for many test applications and significantly expand the availability of the LD400. The continuous power is 400 W.

Multiple modes
Constant current mode
Constant current mode is used for load testing of normal power supplies and for constant current discharge of batteries. This mode allows fast measurement of current source control (V / I characteristics).

Constant power mode
Constant power mode simulates a load whose power consumption is independent of the applied voltage. This applies to many types of equipment that contain switching power supplies. This mode is particularly suitable for testing power sources from portable devices such as lithium-ion batteries.

Constant voltage mode
Constant voltage mode is used for load testing of constant power supplies. The device operates as a high performance shunt controller.

Constant resistance mode
Constant resistance mode simulates a standard resistive load by providing a current flow proportional to the voltage. Settings are displayed in ohms or milli-ohms.
In contrast to fixed resistors or rheostats, the load provides a precisely controllable resistor with high loss.
