For over 3 decades, TAMIYA has been known for building the most beautiful, fastest and most popular cars as models. The legendary TAMIYA Sand Scorcher on a scale of 1:10 was dedicated to the Volkswagen Beetle 30 years ago. In 2009, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary, a Tamiya fan turned the tables and rebuilt the Sand Scorcher on a scale of 1:1. This unusual "replica" was exhibited at the Spielwarenmesse 2010.

The anniversary model from TAMIYA will be offered as a kit, as it was 30 years ago. The technical basis corresponds to the original model, but there were some innovations for the Sand Scorcher 2010, such as new wishbones, wheel carriers and a modern electronic speed controller. Further components have been reinforced to ensure contemporary stability of the 40 cm long model. The standard equipment includes a robust fibreglass chassis plate, an extensive ball bearing set, a robust electric motor and oil pressure shock absorbers. When it comes to the design of the plastic body, everything stays the same, and this will certainly not only please nostalgics.
