The M-DISC is the world's unique, long-lasting and reliable storage medium for long-term data archiving. The M-DISC is the only disc that has passed the stringent tests of the US Department of Defense for long-term archiving.
Thanks to the patented, stone-like material, the data is engraved in the recording layer. This physical change of the medium allows the contents stored on the disc to be archived for up to 1000 years.
The inorganic layer also ensures that no special precautions need to be taken during storage, as there is no influence on temperatures, humidity or solar radiation.
BD-R M-DISC media can be written and read with all Blu-ray recorders.
