New at HB Racing is the GT-Class electric all-wheel racing car with the first representative, the RGT8-E in the scale 1:8. The RGT8-E was already on the podium as a pre-series model. Right at the first race, HB pilot Rosario Giaimo took pole position with his RGT8-E test pattern at the 2018 European Championship and then made clear the A-Main victory in the 1:8 Electric GT-Class.
The RGT8-E possesses a robust 3-mm-aluminum chassis with increased side protection elements, similar to the successful 1:8 Buggy D817 V2. The 7075 aircraft aluminum chassis provides additional stability, lowers the center of gravity, dissipates the engine heat and helps to dampen high-frequency vibrations. High side guards made of nylon keep stones and dirt away.
Especially with the RGT8-E is also the fully adjustable battery mounting system, which can process a variety of battery configurations. When using shorties packs, you can easily adjust the weight differences forwards/backwards at several attachment points, thus improving the balance of the vehicle. The batteries are securely held in position and mounted directly on the chassis for the lowest possible center of gravity. By the way, the battery holder offers enough space for 1 x 4S or 2 x 2S Race batteries or 2 x 2S Shorty Packs.
The drive train is based on a tested HB 4WD system with central drive shafts made of high-strength steel, robust and sintered differential gears, precision-manufactured input and spur gears made of steel as well as milled aluminum wheel hubs. In order to reduce the weight to be moved and thus the rotational resistance in the drive train, the steel front wheel, the differential outputs and the center inputs were designed as "Lightweight". The central differential bracket is split in two to provide quick maintenance access to the differential.
The RGT8-E chassis has the unique HB Racing monocoque suspension arms, with which the rigidity of the front and rear arms can be adjusted to the conditions of the track and driving styles. These tuning parts are included in the RGT8-E standard : aluminum servo saver arm and servo saver adjusting nut, steel threaded rods, aluminum Ackermann system, aluminum wheel carrier, aluminum BigBore oil pressure shock absorbers, CNC-machined aluminum steering blocks. Of course, in addition to stabilizers at the front and rear, hung pin inserts are also used for a simple toe-in and anti-squat setting.
With race DNA from the Nitro RGT8 and the World Champion line of HB off-road buggies in scale 1: 8, the new RGT8-E is the first choice for the exciting electric GT class.
