What was the BBC micro:bit? The BBC micro:bit is a single board computer originally designed for school use only. Due to the great demand, the computer is now also available on the free market. The mini computer with a size of 4 x 5 cm is aimed at beginners as well as experienced hobbyists alike. The board is already equipped with a 5x5 LED matrix for output as well as a magnetometer and a 3-axis acceleration sensor. It also has Bluetooth®, two programmable buttons and 20 input/output pins. This means that you can start with the first projects without having to buy electronics. The micro:bit website provides support in the form of tutorials and exercises. Beginners and professionals will enjoy the BBC micro:bit. There are four programming interfaces available for the modeling computer: Code Kingdoms JavaScript, Microsoft Blocks, Microsoft Touch Develop and MicroPython. This allows you to program graphically or by means of a text editor. In addition to programming on the PC via USB connection, programming via smartphone or tablet is also practical.
