Overview

A delightfully simple alternative to more expensive GSM remote control systems

Description

Switch devices on and off remotely by call or text without the need for expensive GSM remote control systems. The Velleman MK160 features a brightness sensor which switches a NO/NC relay when a sudden increase in brightness occurs. Placing the brightness sensor on the screen of a mobile phone means that when the phone is called or texted and the screen lights up, the relay will be switched. As the phone does not need to be answered by the module, this method of switching is entirely free.

Combining this with our cheapest mobile phone, the Samsung E1080W, item no. 318202 (see this item's accessories), creates an incredibly cheap remote switching solution that can be used for any number of purposes. Among those cited by our customers are: switching lighting on / off when away from the house, turning heating on before coming home, slave garage doors and even operating feeding systems for animals.

The MK160 offers two modes:
ON/OFF function - call once for on, once for off
ON with switch off timer - call once for on, relay switches off again after set time period (time settings: 0.5 secs, 2 secs, 30 secs, 1 min, 5 mins, 15 mins, 30 mins and 1 hr)

Characteristics

2 operating functions: ON/OFF function (switch) or ON with automatic switch-off time · Time settings: 0.5 s, 2 s, 30 s, 1 min, 5 min, 15 min, 30 min and 1 h · NO/NC relay output

Information

Please note: This is a self-assembly kit that requires soldering together.
