When an earth impulse is applied to the input of the component (e.g. a switch is pressed for a certain amount of time), the output remains open at first for the set time (between 0 and approx. 60 seconds), the consumer connected downstream thus remains without power. After the lapse of the set time the output produces an earth impulse, which has the same length as the input impulse.
