Product description

Overview

Automatic Data Acquisition and Storage - USB data transfer eliminates the need for data entry and eliminates recording errors
Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) - Identifies existing interference and selects an appropriate measurement frequency to minimise the influence of interference and provide more reliable ground readings
Faster set-up - Colour coded cables facilitate identification and use of cable reels and ground spikes.

Description

Ground gauges such as the Fluke 1623-2 are essential troubleshooting tools. They help to maximise plant availability and reduce the risk of electrocution for users. If fault currents do not find their way to earth via a properly designed and maintained grounding system, they will follow unwanted paths and may also travel through the human body.

If there is no proper grounding, the likelihood of malfunction also increases. Without an efficient grounding system, electrical equipment can experience instrument faults, harmonic distortion and power factor problems, and a variety of sporadic faults. Studies show that 25% of power quality problems are due to poor grounding.

Spießloses Verfahren
With the Fluke 1623-2 grounding meter, ground loop resistances can be easily measured with current clamps. In this measuring method, two clamps are placed around the deep earth electrode and connected to the measuring instrument. No grounding spikes are used. One of the clamps induces a known fixed voltage, and the second clamp measures the current. Then the measuring instrument automatically determines the resistance of the deep earth electrode. This measurement method can only be used if an earthing system is connected to the building or structure to be measured. However, this is usually the case. If there is only one mass path, as is the case in many residential areas, the spihless method will not yield any acceptable value. In this case, the test must be carried out using the voltage drop method.

For the spihless method, the depth earth electrodes do not have to be disconnected so that the connected earthing system remains intact during the test. The days of the enormous amount of time required to place and connect spikes to any deep earth electrode in the system are finally over. That saves a lot of time. You can make grounding measurements in buildings, on power poles and anywhere where access to the ground is not possible.

The most feature-rich instrument
Fluke 1623-2 is a unique grounding instrument that can perform all four types of grounding measurement.
-3- and 4-pole voltage drop method (with spikes)
-4-pole earth resistance measurement (with spikes)
Selective measurement (with one pliers and spikes)
Spikeless measurement (with two pliers only)
