Description
The IC cars of the DB as a complete new design from PIKO in the scale 1:160. The pioneering concept of the IC "79" was introduced at the beginning of the summer timetable 1979 by the Federal Railways with the well-known slogan "Every hour, every class". This new route was necessary because the pure first-class intercities were hardly economically viable at this time due to the continuing decline in passengers. With the introduction of the second class of the car, the cycle was raised at the same time to an hourly rhythm. The desired reductions in travel times were achieved through the expansion of many routes and the increase in the maximum speeds. These accelerated trains no longer saved luggage and postal cars, and were in favor of a quick transfer in the train stations to blocks 1. Class, dining car and 2. Class sub-divided. Following the success of the concept, the IC network was expanded from four to five lines in 1985. To date, the IC is an important backbone in long-distance rail traffic.
