Transparent data exchange between a Modbus TCP client (master) and Modbus RTU slaves
Assumes the role of a server (slave) on the Modbus TCP side

With this Modbus gateway, a server (slave) is implemented on the Modbus TCP side. The gateway transparently forwards the Modbus TCP telegrams to the Modbus RTU slaves connected to the gateway.
Requests from a Modbus TCP client (master) to the slaves in the Modbus RTU network are converted from the gateway to the Modbus RTU. Conversely, response telegrams of the Modbus RTU slaves are also transparently passed through the gateway for the Modbus TCP client by the Modbus RTU slaves.
Thus Modbus TCP clients can communicate with one or more Modbus RTU slaves via this Modbus gateway.
The physical connection of the Modbus gateway to the Modbus RTU is made for RS-232 via a 9-pin D-Sub connector, for RS-485 via an RJ12 connector. The connection to the Ethernet side (Modbus TCP) is made via a conventional RJ45 connector.
