No drivers, no configuration required
The EDID emulator is plugged into the output of the graphics card and connected to the required monitor. If you interrupt the connection to the monitor, the graphics card does not detect this - it retains the selected settings (resolution, frequency). If the monitor is connected again later, you get the right picture immediately. This is especially important when using KVM switches.
