Description

Kali Audio presents the 3-way 5" near-field monitor IN-5 as a precise monitoring system for smaller rooms. The further development of the successful LP series has a sophisticated bass reflex system with level-resistant woofer. Instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, however, a coaxial mid-tweeter combination was used. The profile-optimized 4" mid-range speaker also acts as a waveguide. By limiting the peak deflection to 1 mm, intermodulation distortions, which otherwise occur in coaxial systems, could be avoided. The mid-range speaker also relieves the strain on woofers and tweeters, so THE IN-5 plays a more harmonious and distortion-free overall than conventional 2-way studio monitors.
The crossover frequency of the woofer is 280 Hz, making THE IN-5 an acoustic point source. Phase cancellations on the vertical axis will be searched for in vain here. Instead, THE IN-5 has a uniform radiation behavior over the complete frequency response with excellent depth graduation and positioning. The stereo image also benefits from coaxial arrangement and enables a detailed mix. The IN-5 is as easy to adapt as your sister models to different studio environments thanks to the well-known "Boundary EQ" from the LP series.
