Description

The AEC Routemaster, which was produced in 1965, was long, RML for short, and offered space for a total of 72 passengers. The fulminant success with 15 test vehicles was so convincing that a further 500 RML were ordered. Especially the open entry platform for a quick getting on and off was very popular. With the constant presence of the red double-decker on almost all routes in the inner-city area of London, the image of the Routemaster was quickly consolidated as a typical landmark of the capital.
