Description
The Segment Display 4x7 Bricklet can be used to control four 7-segment displays and one colon via bricks. Each of the 29 segments can be switched independently. It is also possible to adjust the brightness of the segments. Besides the possibility to switch individual segments, the API also offers a user-configurable counter.
First Test
In order to test a segment display 4x7 bricklet, brick daemon and brick viewer have to be installed first. Brick Daemon works as a proxy between the USB interface of the bricks and the API bindings. Brick Viewer can connect to Brick Daemon, displays information about the connected bricks and bricklets and allows you to test them.
Next the segment display 4x7 bricklet must be connected to a brick using a bricklet cable.
If the brick is connected to the PC via USB, a new tab named "Segment display 4x7 bricklet" should appear in the Brick Viewer a moment later. Select this tab. If everything works as expected, the individual segments can now be switched on/off.
Now you can write your own program.
Information
known errors/problems
If the segment Display 4x7 Bricklet (version 1.0) is connected to a Master Brick, you should try to connect it to port A or B (not C and D). The segment display 4x7 Bricklet feeds a voltage back to the master, which can disturb the analog-to-digital converter of the microcontroller.
