Hard as ABS, easy to print as PLA
Spectrum PLA Tough is specially designed for 3D printing. The process of improving the properties of this material at the monomer level has enabled a wide range of applications. It is an ideal solution for the pressure of functional elements with ABS-like mechanical properties, while maintaining the simplicity of pressure and low PLA shrinkage.
The use of unique additives that alter the structure of the polymer makes possible, among other things:
- A significant reduction in shrinkage compared to conventional PLA-based materials. This allows the printing of large-format components;
- Improving the adhesion of printed elements to work platforms;
- Achieve a higher impact bending strength of printed parts compared to their ABS counterparts,
- Maintaining the high rigidity characteristic of components produced from non-enriched PLA;
- Elimination of the brittleness characteristic of non-enriched PLA objects. This also results in higher adhesion between the applied material layers;
- Achieve more solid surfaces compared to PLA without modification;
- Allows mechanical machining of printed parts, WAS is difficult or impossible for standard PLA. The manufactured parts can therefore be ground, milled, drilled and turned;
- Elimination of toxic and interfering vapors characteristic of pressure with ABS;
- Highlight the combined benefits of PLA and Mechanical ABS while maintaining full biodegradability.
The characteristic properties of Spectrum PLA Tough allow the use of the material in applications where high resistance to impact bending with very low processing shrinkage is required.
