The Wiking model of the Mercedes-Benz O 305 reminds us of a change in strategy to improve road safety – the public transport system should become more noticeable. In the late seventies, the learned bus beige in many places slowly but surely departed from the more individual color design of the transport companies, which wanted to increase the attention value of their fleet. Many operators switched to a broad-round belly band in bright color – the base and the roof section were then painted white. With the O 305, a new Mercedes-Benz urban bus model quickly entered the German road map. A total of around 16,000 units of the O 305 were produced by 1985. Almost all major local transport companies have been using the O 305 successfully for many years.
Body white, black gray chassis with slate gray interior fittings. Headlights and Mercedes-Benz-Star silver-plated. Bumper printed black. Fire-red flank design. Silver Mercedes-Benz rear star and red tail lights.
