Description
Where is the package's journey going??? The white delivery van of the DPD is thus on the motorway and takes it to the next distribution point. The DPD (German parcel service) was founded in 1976 by 18 leading German shipping companies.
Among the founding members were the Honold Logistik Group, Hellmann (Osnabrück), Random (Göttingen), Stretch Transport (Lörrach), Cordes & Simon (Hagen), TTF (Flensburg), Denkhaus (Koben) and Zeitfracht (Berlin).
Thus already in the year of its founding, a considerable number of 1.4 million packages could be booked in Germany, while WAS increased over the years to 2.5 million packages a day until 2006.
In 1999, the French postal company La Poste acquired 83.32% of the DPD parcel service and acquired the transport company in its subsidiary Geopost.
The proven and well-known name DPD has been retained and individual state-specific branches of Geopost have been expanded.
