Description

In 1913 the RhB acquired 7 pieces of small electric locomotive from the series Ge 2/4. The locomotive was so to speak half a Ge 4/6, WAS concerned the drive and the electrical equipment. The 8.70 m long and 37 tons heavy locomotives had an output of 210 kW (285 HP) and reached a maximum speed of 45 km/h. The locomotives were not able to completely fulfill the requirements placed on them, and problems occurred frequently, especially in the area of the electrical system. Between 1943 and 1946 3 machines were converted in shunting locomotives with a central driver's cab and were assigned the operating number 211–213. Two other locomotives were fundamentally modernized, they were given a new traction motor, an additional resistance brake – for whose braking resistors a pantograph was removed, so that these two locomotives with the numbers 221 and 222 developed almost double the output as the original version, namely 428 kW or 582 hp. At the same time, the weight fell to 30 tons, but the top speed rose to 55 km/h. In 1998 the 221 was canceled, the 222 is still in use as a museum locomotive and can be found on the entire RhB main network for special trips.

Model of the electric locomotive Ge 2/4 with number 222 of RhB in the version as it still exists today as historical locomotive. Roof with a pantograph and resistor brake, pantograph with drive, raise- and lower able in the digital mode. Prototypical painting and labeling of the epoch VI. Both driving wheel sets with a powerful ball-bearing motor driven, traction tires. Equipped with a mfx/DCC decoder with a lot of sound and light functions, such as peak light changes with the direction of travel, driver's cab lighting and much more. Length over buffer 38 cm.
