Description
Spectrum presents the new FlameGuard PLA filament based on an innovative formula designed specifically for applications requiring both durability and fire protection. FlameGuard PLA is a halogen-free, flame retardant material that meets the highest fire protection requirements of the V0 class. This makes it an ideal choice for demanding applications such as electronics casings, components for automation devices, furniture casings and speaker casing.
FlameGuard PLA is an eco-friendly alternative to conventional ABS FR that contains halogen. These make recycling of the material difficult, WAS often leads to landfill waste. Our filament is based on sustainability and offers both recyclability and reduced environmental impact. Compared to traditional ABS FR, FlameGuard PLA has up to seven times less CO2 footprint – typically 0.6 kgCO2e/kg for PLA-based material, compared to typically 3.8 kgCO2e/kg for ABS FR – while maintaining similar physical characteristics as the elasticity module and tensile strength.
FlameGuard PLA is an innovative material with a high proportion of renewable raw materials. It offers durability comparable to FR ABS and meets the fire protection class V0 according to UL94. Thus it combines safety, ecological responsibility and high quality in one single solution.
