Antibacterial technology for protection of surfaces
SafeGuard PLA is an antibacterial 3D printing filament designed to protect surfaces from harmful microbes, viruses, biofilms and mold.
ISO 22196 tests performed on 3D-printed objects show that SafeGuard PLA is over 99.9% more hygienic than standard PLA. Test results against E. coli and Staphylococcus – two of the most common bacterial strains – confirm the effectiveness of SafeGuard PLA in preventing the adhesion of most related microorganisms to your 3D printing. This material is therefore suitable for the manufacture of products which require a high level of hygiene.
A major advantage of SafeGuard PLA is its long-term effectiveness. Unlike conventional copper or silver-based solutions, SafeGuard PLA does not lose its antibacterial properties over time.
The filament is 100% free of biocides. WAS means that it does not contain any chemical substances that can escape from the material and present a risk. The technology used in the SafeGuard PLA is completely safe, non-toxic and prevents the migration of active substances, thus preventing the development of bacterial resistance.
The responsibility for the use of SafeGuard PLA and its applications lies entirely with the user. To ensure the highest level of safety, 3D printed objects must be subjected to separate tests, especially when used in environments with elevated hygiene standards.
