New 2025: From 1969, the steam locomotives of series 03 were on the line, as part of the reconstruction, to be made fit for further years of operation. The main focus was on the general overhaul of the boiler with mixing pre-heater, revised standing boiler and ash box. The machines also received a rearrangement of the pumps, the characteristic mixed preheating system on the smoke chamber and a new roof on the cab. The locomotives reconstructed in this way still served long-distance traffic for a good decade.
