New 2025: The modern VT 2.09 was considered agile, reliable and elegant, clean and soon popular. In 1965, 68 "piglets" have been humming between the Baltic coast and Thuringia forest, Rügen and Ore Mountains over the tracks. The only drawback was that they had to bypass the associated VT side car at terminal stations. As a consequence of this, a series of driving cars was followed in 1964 for the now further developed railcars. With a third series of the VT 2.09 the procurement of these meanwhile cult State Railways vehicles ended in 1970.
