The IEEE 802.3bz standard has paved the way for speeds of 2.5 and 5 Gigabit – in addition to the older speeds of 1 and 10 Gigabit per second. New servers, workstations, storage devices and motherboards are equipped with 802.3bz (NBASE-T) multi-Gigabit Ethernet for 2.5 to 5 times faster speeds and for up to 100 m of conventional CAT5e/Cat6 cabling.
That's why NETGEAR has developed the new 8-port Multi-Gigabit Smart Managed Pro Switch with 10G copper/fiber uplinks. Each port automatically detects the speed that the connected device requires and provides the same. Unlike standard 10 Gigabit switches, which provide 1 Gigabit connectivity to all devices with a requirement of less than 10 Gigabit, MS510TX and MS510TXPP provide the exact speed required without downgrading. In addition, the new NETGEAR Multispeed Switch ports can be connected to standard CAT5e network cables without the need to upgrade to CAT6 cabling. This means less cost and less effort.
