You can measure distances with the distance IR Bricklet bricks This bricklet is on the back side of analogue sharp infrared distance sensors attached. Once the sensor has been configured, you can directly be read the measured distances in millimeters. With configurable events, it is possible to react to changing distance measurement without the values continuously to the query (no polling is necessary).
Typically, these sensors in the robotics is used in order to measure distances, to locate or card creation. But they are still for many other applications. For example, these sensors like a light barrier can be used for example to control access to a room.
