Description
Proto Pasta Conductive PLA Filament is one of the best electrically conductive filaments on the market. This filament can be used, among other things, for printing antistatic components or in the low-voltage range. The electrical conductivity of the filament is not compared to copper or other conductors. The use of live filament is reserved for the experienced user, and the use of objects under power is expressly at the user's own risk.
How conductive is this filament?
The conductivity of printed objects depends on many factors, wzb. The geometry of the component, the infill used, the height of the layer, etc. Therefore, the information used here is only to be understood as a guide value and cannot be guaranteed.
• Volume resistance of molded plastic (not printed 3D): 15 ohm-cm
• Volume resistance of 3D printed parts along the slices (x / y): 30 ohm cm
• Volume resistance of 3D-printed parts against the layers (z): 115 Ohm-cm
• Resistance with a length of 10 cm and 1.75 mm filament: 2-3 kOhm
• Resistance of 10 cm length with 2.85 mm filament: 800-1200 ohms
Suggested applications
Protopasta Conductive PLA is an excellent choice for low voltage applications, touch sensing projects, and the use of printouts to interact with touch screens (which require low conductivity, so you cannot use your smartphone screen with gloves). Generally, anything was to 1K be This will easily run an Arduino with low current if you don't do much with it. Experiment with ESD or 3D-printed bearings!
Strength and performance
The manufacturer has not carried out any major mechanical tests on this product. However, there are some subjective parameters that should be useful when comparing this material with others:
Strength: Fair strength. More flexible than PLA, but less layer adhesion
Stiffness: Low, semi-flexible
Heat resistance: Use similar to PLA below 50° C.
Shift liability: Fair shift liability. Not as good as normal PLA
Flexibility: The filament is very flexible, but breaks when it is repeatedly bent (especially 2.85 mm). Printed parts are rigid if they are thicker than one or two mm. Thin cuts are a little flexible, but fail along the lines of shear if they are bent more than a few times.
Error mode: If it is bent to break, the error occurs along the shear lines.
Distortion: Very low distortion
Dual-head compatibility: Compatible with (sticks to) PLA in dual-material printing
