Thermal is a thermal image camera from the M5 Stack Series. The unit contains thermal column sensors with the label MLX 90640. It can be used to measure the surface temperature of an object and a thermo graphic image through a temperature gradients to generate from different surface temperatures. The picture resolution is 32 x 24.
The Infrared Sensor Array MLX 90640 combines high resolution and reliable operation in rough environments and offers a cost-effective alternative to more expensive high-end infrared cameras. Unlike a micro bolometer the sensor must not often be recalibrated, whereby a continuous monitoring is ensured and the system costs.
The option for the field of view (FOV) includes a standard version with 55° x 35° and a wide-angle version with 110° x 75° for distances of up to 7 m. This unit is 110° × 75° FoV, known as BAA-package.
The device communicates with the M5 stack core via the Grove A interface. The IIC address is 0 x 33
