The Sparkfun Pi AVR Programr MAKES it easy to program AVRs directly from the SPI hardware pins on any Raspberry Pi. Originally conceived as an in-house solution for the production of Sparkfun, it is now offered as a robust programming tool for everyone to buy! This programr is by far one of the fastest, most reliable and hack-able (fully open source) AVR programming solutions available. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced electronics enthusiast, the Pi AVR programr should be easy to use.
The Sparkfun Pi AVR Programr is directly connected to the GPIO port of your Raspberry Pi and offers a variety of unique onboard amenities, including (but not limited to) a capacitive touch pad for activating programming, multiple pass/fail status LEDs, an insulation switch and label boxes, To keep track of your projects. Also included with each Hats is a 1x6 connector cable that connects to the programr's ISP header and an ISP interface adapter with an 2x3 header. Programming an AVRs by an in-system programr (ISP) can offer many advantages, including a faster code upload rate, the ability to overwrite the boot loader and gain a little more flash memory, and a way to influence the fuse bits to change a variety of settings on your target.
This CAN be used directly from the command line with AVRDUDE commands, with some simple setup steps, or it can function as a stand-alone programr with a capacitive touch-pad switch-on button and status LEDs!
