Description
This is the Sparkfun BLE measure 2, an efficient and reliable Bluetooth 4.0 development board. The BLE size 2 is similar to a breakout board, since almost every pin on the on-board BC118 module is provided for access. This board is actually a close relative of our gold and silver Bluetooth measurements and works in a very similar way, but works as the name already says as Bluetooth Low Energy instead of Bluetooth 2.0.
The BLE dimension 2 has a six-pin connector at the end opposite the BC118 module, which is used as a “host” serial pin assignment, as on the FTDI Basic boards, allowing the BLE dimension 2 to be connected directly to any device with a matching connector, such as Sparkfun Arduino Pro and Pro Mini. In conjunction with the FTDI SmartBasic, you can even develop your code without having to change the cables! The board has a built-in level shift so that it can be used with boards with a higher voltage than the 3.3V standard used by the BC118.
Each BLE measure 2 offers BC118 module, which is able to receive and send via UART at 9600bps (standard) with a frequency band of 2,402 MHz to 2,480 MHz.
The Sparkfun BLE dimensions 2 only supports Bluetooth 4.0; it does not connect to her older devices. It is also worth noting that the BLE does not support Serial Port Protocol as it did with older versions of Bluetooth; this makes interoperability between BLE dongle, devices and modules more difficult than with Bluetooth Classic.
