The Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera has been the new camera module of the Raspberry Pi Foundation since April 2020.
It offers the following improvements compared to the Raspberry camera module V2:
- significantly higher resolution of 12 megapixels (compared to 8 megapixels)
- significantly higher sensitivity (approximately 50% more area per pixel for improved low light performance)
- allows use with interchangeable lenses in C and CS mount formats. Lens form factors can also be used with third-party lens adapters.
Special design for industrial and consumer applications
The high quality camera is ideal for industrial and consumer applications, including security cameras that require the highest level of visual fidelity and/or integration with special optics.
Support for almost all Raspberry Pi models
This high-quality camera is compatible with almost all Raspberry Pi models from the original Raspberry Pi 1 model B. The camera can also be used with the Raspberry Pi Zero using an adapter cable.

The delivery includes the high quality camera with Sony IMX477 sensor, an FPC cable for connecting to a Raspberry Pi, a milled aluminum lens socket with integrated stand holder and focus adjustment ring as well as a C to CS mount adapter.
