With the Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+, you can connect M.2 peripherals such as NVMe drives and AI accelerators to the PCIe 2.0 interface of the Raspberry Pi 5, supporting fast data transfer (up to 500 MB/s) to and from NVMe drives and other PCIe accessories.
The Raspberry Pi 5 Single-Lane PCI Express 2.0 interface is accessible via a 0.5 mm pitch 16-pin FPC connector. The M.2 HAT+ M Key is a mechanical adapter board in both the standard and compact versions, which converts between this connector and a subgroup of the M.2 standard. It supports devices with M.2 M-Key edge connectors in form factors 2230 (standard and compact variant) and 2242 (standard variant only). It can supply connected M.2 devices with up to 3 A.
The Raspberry Pi M.2 HAS+ corresponds to the Raspberry Pi HAT+ specification and is automatically detected by the latest Raspberry Pi software/firmware.
The Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ Compact is designed for use with a Raspberry Pi housing for Raspberry Pi 5. The compact form factor allows you to connect M.2 M-Key peripherals with the 2230-form factor to the Raspberry Pi 5 and also offers space for its built-in fan.
